Reconstruction Era National Historical Park provides the perfect historical setting to enhance classroom-based learning. Ranger led programs are available for education groups interested in learning more about the Reconstruction era in Beaufort, South Carolina. All ranger-led education programs are curriculum-based (South Carolina State Standards) and free of charge.

How to Schedule an In-Person Field Trip

Step 1: Review Program Options

Please review each of the programs we have to offer at Reconstruction Era National Historical Park. Each program is different and will cater to different topics of Reconstruction. Once you have found the program you would like to participate in, please see the next step.

Step 2: Complete Program Request Forms

Once you have picked out which program you would like your group to participate in, please fill out and submit the Program Request Form.

Things to keep in mind while filling out this form:

• Most program locations can accommodate 1 bus

• Ranger led programs generally last 1-1.5 hours, not including driving or lunch time (if applicable). Expect total time in the park (travel to site, program, possible lunch/snack time) to be around 2-2.5 hours

• Secure your date: Programs are available Tuesdays through Fridays, and we request that you book at least two weeks in advance of your desired program date.

• Name of Program: When filling out the Program Request form, please make note of the specific program you are interested in so park staff are aware of location and supply needs.

Privacy Act Statement

Authority: Public Law 114-289 National Park Service Centennial Act and 54 U.S.C. 100701 Protection, interpretation, and research in System.

Purpose: To administer education programs for education audiences including but not limited to school groups, scouting groups, extracurricular groups, and home school groups.

Routine Uses: To effectively manage requests for education received by the NPS, the Education Reservation Request Form is used to collect basic education reservation information to facilitate operational aspects of scheduling groups for park education programs, including in-park education programs, ranger in classroom programs, and/or online distance learning programs.

Disclosure: Voluntary, however, failure to provide the requested information may impede the ability to grant your education reservation request.

Paperwork Reduction Act Statement

We are collecting this information subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. 3501) to provide park managers and educators the information needed to schedule and conduct education program activities. All applicable parts of the form must be completed in order for your request to be considered. You are not required to respond to this or any other Federal agency-sponsored information collection unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number.
