Civil Engineer/Project Manager

Position Description: The Department of the Interior (DOI)/National Park Service (NPS) is recruiting a Commissioned Corps Officer to fill the position of Civil Engineer/Project Manager with a duty station in Washington, DC. Only officers in the Engineer Officer category will be considered. The selectee is a member of the Design and Construction branch within the Facilities, Design and Construction Associate Directorate at the National Capital Region (NCR), NPS. The Branch provides design and construction services for the Regional Office, 15 major national parks, 20 museums, 3 battlefields, and approximately 80 national monuments that comprise the NCR. This position reports to and works under the direction of the Chief of Design and Construction. This position serves as an expert engineer providing civil engineering consultation and advisement to senior colleagues for significant and complex projects on assets that affect the welfare of the public and/or the sustainability of natural resources and the environment. Work can include design, studies, analyses, construction administration, documentation, inspections, assessments, investigations, reviews, cost estimating, specifications writing, compliance evaluations, and evaluating facility capacities and operations. Position Description: This position serves as the subject matter expert and principal advisor responsible for developing and coordinating the safety, occupational health, and environmental management programs for the Southern Network of parks (see list above). The position plays a significant leadership role for the Network and interacts directly with the Southern Network Board of Directors, consisting of Superintendents from each national park unit. Together these parks manage approximately 10 million across of land within the states of Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and California. The position’s work and productivity will have direct impact on the safety, health, and wellbeing of over 700 employees, thousands of volunteers, and over 10 million park visitors per year. This position will be duty stationed at one of the Network parks, will be supervised by the Superintendent of that park, and will provide professional safety and environmental management services to the other parks as directed by the Southern Network superintendents. Position Description: The National Park Service (NPS) is recruiting a Commissioned Corps (CC) officer to fill the position of Advanced Practice Primary Care Provider at the Yosemite Medical Clinic (YMC) with a duty station in Yosemite National Park, California. Organizationally, this position is within Yosemite National Park’s Visitor and Resource Protection Division and reports to the clinic’s Nurse Manager. Well-qualified officers with the ranks of O-2, O-3 and O-4 are encouraged to apply. Our site is highly dynamic and rewarding, but flexibility and possession of highly clinical skills is needed to be successful. YMC provides ambulatory care services to park visitors and residents, as well as primary care services to residents and employees. The medical providers include a Physician/Medical Director and one vacant Advanced Practice Primary Care Provider (APP) (NP/PA), both CC officers. During the peak summer season, the provider staff may be augmented by Family or Emergency Medicine (PGY 3 or 4) residents from affiliated academic institutions. During the non-peak season (Fall-Spring), the APP may also be required to precept medical residents and other students (i.e., nursing students, PA, or NP students).
