The Office of Public Health Field Services Branch is comprised of U.S. Public Health Service Officers who are equipped with the professional knowledge in environmental health and engineering. Through collaboration with the Epidemiology Branch and by conducting on-site system evaluations and providing consultations and trainings, officers are able to assist parks in ensuring the health and safety of employees and visitors. There are five priority areas within the Field Services Branch: Drinking Water, Wastewater, Recreational Water, Food Safety and Backcountry Operations. The Field Services Branch uses science-informed decision making, guided by the NPS Public Health Policy: RM-83A.
