Governors Island was one of the longest continually operated military bases in the country, operated for two centuries, by the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Coast Guard until its closure in 1996.

Guided Tours - Free:

Castle Wiliams will be open via guided tours only, Wednesday thru Sunday at 10:30, 12:00, 2:00 & 3:00. Fort Jay will be closed for the winter. For Casle Williams tour reservations click on the link below for Rec.gov
