PUBLIC USE CABIN 1. Public use cabins are only intended for short-term recreational use and occupancy. 2. The use of any combination of public use cabins shall not exceed ten days in a 30 day period without a permit from the Preserve's Superintendent. 3. Cabins shall be occupied on a first come, first served basis. The cabin will be available for use by multiple parties depending on available space and/or emergency situations. 4. Modification or changes to the cabin structure or design are prohibited. 5. Food and beverages, food and beverage containers, garbage, harvested fish and equipment used to cook or store food must be stored in a bear resistant container or secured within a hard sided building, or by caching a minimum of 100 feet from camp and suspending at least 10 feet above ground. Please dispose of inedible game parts, fish and food scraps that could attract a bear, at least 300 yards from the cabin site and below high water level. Legally taken game must not be stored in any public use cabin. 6. Only dead and downed wood may be collected for firewood. Cutting of live trees is not permitted. Removing cut firewood from cabin sites is prohibited. 7. Campfires are permitted, except during red flag warnings (open fire bans). Please practice Leave No Trace ethics and use existing fire rings, fire pans or mound fires. Fires below the high water mark on the beach are the best option. 8. Upon departing, parties will clean and secure public use cabins as follows:
