Active: Any wildland fire that has not been declared contained, controlled, or out.
Contained: A wildland fire that is surrounded by control line and/or natural features.
Controlled: A wildland fire that has been contained and the probability of it increasing in size is considered very low.
Out: All combustion has ceased on a wildland fire and no heat or smoke remains.
