What is a Junior Ranger?

A Junior Ranger is an important person who helps park rangers take care of our national parks.

Do you like exploring the park, taking boat trips, hiking in park forests, or seeing a bald eagle fly overhead? Would you like to have fun and help us take care of the park?

If the answer is yes, then you might be just the person we're looking for to become our newest Junior Ranger!

Four images on the cover. One shows kids snowshoeing, one has kids gathered around a map while a park ranger points, one has two kids looking at a paper outside, and the last image shows a person dressed up as a voyageur in colorful clothing.
Booklets are free.

How do you become a Junior Ranger?

  • Visit Voyageurs National Park
  • Stop by a visitor center and ask a park ranger for a Jr. Ranger booklet
  • After completing the booklet, present it to a park ranger or volunteer who will have you recite the Jr. Ranger pledge and present you with a Jr. Ranger badge.
