Explore a National Treasure! Tonto National Monument provides a place to explore and learn about a unique part of America's heritage. The monument is open everyday from 8 am to 5 pm. except on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day and will close early at 3 pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. For more information visit the Hours & Seasons page. Lower Cliff DwellingThe Lower Cliff Dwelling trail is a steep 0.5 mile walk uphill on a paved path. When you arrive, check in at the visitor center. You must start your hike before 4 pm. During the months of June, July, and August, you must start your hike before 12 noon. Hiking to the Lower Cliff Dwelling takes about one hour round-trip.
Upper Cliff DwellingThe Upper Cliff Dwelling is accessible by guided tour with a reservation only. The tour takes 3 to 4 hours. Tours are offered every Saturday and Sunday from November through April. To make a reservation, you must call (928)467-2241. Space and number of tours are limited due to the sensitivity of this site. Visitor Center and MuseumThe visitor center offers a great introduction to the people and way of life that occupied this place 700 years ago. Watch the 18 minute park film and browse throughout the parkstore, operated by Western National Parks Association. Additional InformationEntrance FeesTonto National Monument charges $10 per person. Children under 16 are free. All Federal Passes (Annual, Senior, Access, Military, Fourth Grade, Volunteer) are accepted. Pets are not allowed in the Visitor Center or in the Lower Cliff Dwelling itself. It is illegal to leave your pet in the car.
