Since 2006 the Timucuan Preserve and the University of Florida's Dept. of Anthropology have conducted archeological investigations of the Kingsley Plantation. In 2010, the field school found evidence of a graveyard near the slave quarters. Ultimately six graves were discovered. Based on the relative age of buttons and other artifacts found in the graves these individuals are believed to have been buried during the Kingsley/Gibbs tenure of the plantation.
