It includes a study guide that used documents, images, diary and letter excerpts, and reproduction items and clothing to explore how Quakers and antislavery reformers brought about the Seneca Falls Convention.

Many people have heard of César Chávez and how he fought for rights and justice for agricultural workers, but what were the conditions that nurtured his activism? Our education rangers guide students in a math activity that puts them in César's shoes, showing how difficult it was for migrant farmworkers to have stable housing. Finally, they learn how César Chávez fought for better conditions for farmworkers.

The Power of One, Rangers in the Classroom Program

This program introduces students to the story of César Chávez and the United Farm Workers. Students explore how the impact of one person can be magnified through coalition-building and collective actions. After a short presentation on the life of César Chávez , students brainstorm ways to confront injustice and compare them to the methods César Chávez used in organizing farmworkers, The lesson culminates in a collaborative math activity.

Invaders of the Great Lakes Classroom Program

Students will learn about the Great Lakes and be introduced to the ecological impact of invasive species in this region. An optional pre-site program is designed to orient students to terminology used by land managers when controlling invasive species. Students will watch the virtual program in which National Park Service rangers will talk about the Great Lakes and introduce the concept of invasive species to classrooms. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist focus on sea lamprey and their control.

Outdoor Triangle Proportions

By the end of this unit students will be able to understand similar triangles and proportions. Students will do this through measuring a tree shadow and using their own height and shadow length to set up a proportion. By finishing the calculation, the students will find the height of the tree or building. Activity designed for grades 5-9 but can be modified higher or lower.
