Heiser Spring Restoration

Hubbell Trading Post
John Lorenzo Hubbell purchased what was to become the Hubbell Trading Post in 1878. The oldest continuously operating trading post on the Navajo Nation, Hubbell Trading Post is still providing goods for local residents as well as park visitors. Photography by Stephanie Kuhar and Ashley Palmer.
Pinyon-Juniper Woodlands
Pinyon-juniper woodlands, the most common forest type in the American Southwest, provide a wealth of resources and ecosystem services, from wildlife habitat and vegetative cover for watershed protection, to pinyon nuts and fuelwood.
Preservation Perseverance
Ancestral Puebloan peoples lived across the northern areas of the Southwest beginning about 7,000 years ago with the beginnings of maize cultivation, until about 1540 AD, with the advent of the Spanish explorers. Many of the ruins from their civilizations can be found at Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Aztec Ruins National Monument, Hovenweep National Monument, and Wupatki National Monument.
