    As thousands of workers streamed into Richmond, both public and private entities struggled to keep the city’s burgeoning population housed, healthy, and highly productive. The huge explosion of workers coming to live in Richmond caused intense strain on city infrastructure.

    Did you know that monarch butterflies migrate every year? Some travel as far as Mexico to spend the winter in warmer climes! Learn about their incredible journey from this wayside exhibit, perfectly placed on the Parkway in one of the spots the butterflies regularly use to pass through the mountains.

    During the fall, large concentrations of migrating raptors fly through Grand Canyon on their migration routes through the 'Central Flyway'. Programs about raptor migration are presented on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday: 10:30 am and 2:00 pm, at Yaki Point on the South Rim. - (September 13, through October 28, 2024). Park at the Visitor Center and take the free Kaibab (Orange) Route bus to access Yaki Point. Parking is not available at the point.
