Dartmouth College

Dartmouth College is a private, liberal arts college in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dartmouth is the smallest of the Ivy League institutions, and has a long-standing tradition of close student-faculty ties. Evolutionary Geobiology at Dartmouth is an interdisciplinary effort, and represented by courses offered by the Departments of Anthropology, Biological Sciences, and Earth Sciences. For information about palaeobiology research and teaching at Dartmouth, please visit the Dartmouth Evolutionary Geobiology Group blog (http://dartmouthgeobio.blogspot.com/).

Georgia State University

Georgia State University is a leading public research university located in downtown urban Atlanta with a diverse population of over 32,000 students. The Department of Geosciences has undergraduate and graduate programs focused in geography, geology, geochemistry, and GIS. Themes of scholarship include an Earth Systems approach to the natural world, challenges faced by communities and cities, intersections between physical and human geography, and use of geospatial technologies. Student groups are represented by a chapter of the American Institute of Professional Geologists, Geosciences Club, and honor societies Sigma Gamma Epsilon (earth science) and Gamma Theta Upsilon (geography). Our education, outreach, and research initiatives in the region include the Georgia Geographic Alliance, Atlanta Community Mapping and Research Project, and CSAW (Community, Soil, Air, Water).

Kent State University Department of Geology

Kent State University (Ohio) is an optimal setting in which to study Geology and Paleontology! KSU offers three different Bachelor’s degrees in geology, each tailored to different career goals, including our new Environmental Geology Concentration for the B.S. The Minor in Geology is very flexible, allowing students to tailor the program to specific needs and goals. The Department also offers an M.S. in Geology and a Ph.D. in Applied Geology. Students at the undergraduate and graduate level can study the role of microfossils in determining climate change over the last several thousand to few million years; invertebrate animals like crabs and lobsters; and vertebrates such as mastodons and giant ground sloths with experts in the department. Kent’s setting in the glaciated part of Ohio provides an excellent focal point for field trips to Ice Age microfossil and megafauna localities, microfossil environmental localities, and Paleozoic invertebrate fossil field trip locations for student groups and class trips.

University of Missouri - Kansas City Geosciences Club

Our Geosciences club is a dedicated group of students studying the geosciences, primarily Geology, who get together several times during the semester for field trips to study geologic structures and formations around the midwest. Additionally, the UMKC Geology Club reaches out into the community to share information with local school kids. Our goal as a club is to spend time in the field to put our classroom knowledge to use while having fun, as well as introducing school kids to the wonder of the Earth.

Virginia Tech Paleobiology and Geobiology Research Group

From asking questions to disseminating results, the Paleobiology & Geobiology Research Group at Virginia Tech explores the breadth of the fossil record using both field-based tools and cutting-edge analytical techniques. Common themes in our research include the origins of major clades, phylogenetic reconstruction, faunal change, extinction, environmental changes, and taphonomic processes.
