River Raisin National Battlefield Park to resume visitor center services and host the Flora of Michigan Art Exhibition starting May 8, 2021, in accordance with State and Local health guidance.

Monroe, Michigan – River Raisin National Battlefield Park, in accordance with current to guidance from the State of Michigan and CDC will resume limited visitor services at the River Raisin National Battlefield Park Visitor Center on May 8, 2021. The Visitor Center is located at 333 N. Dixie Highway in Monroe, Michigan and will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Park Superintendent Scott J. Bentley states: “We are pleased to be able to begin greeting visitors again that are traveling to River Raisin National Battlefield Park. Because of the Battlefield’s new visitor center, we are now able to safely resume visitor services and interpretive programming. We want to extend a huge thank you to the City of Monroe, State of Michigan and River Raisin National Battlefield Park Foundation for making the new visitor center possible.”

As a part of the Visitor Center opening, the Park is hosting the Flora of Michigan Art Exhibition from May 8 through July 11, 2021. Over 100 original pieces of artwork produced by over 30 regional artists are on display in the new visitor center. Many of the beautiful pieces of art are available for sale through the Park’s gift shop.

There are no admission fees for the visitor center or Flora of Michigan Art Exhibition. There is a $3.00 per person, $5.00 per couple or $10 per family from the same household fee for the Park’s film “The Untold Legacy of the River Raisin.” The Park film is played in a 154-seat stadium style theater with 4K video projection and Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

The health and wellbeing of visitors and employees at River Raisin National Battlefield Park remains our top priority. We continue to work closely with the NPS Office of Public Health using CDC guidance to ensure public areas and workspaces are safe and clean for visitors, employees, partners, and volunteers. Modifications to operations will be flexible, continually evaluated and adjusted as necessary to ensure public health and safety.

To continue supporting the nation’s effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, services will be to a maximum of 32 people at any one time in the Visitor Center lobby and a maximum of 30 people at a time in the Park’s theater. In addition, visitors are required to follow all State COVID-19 Safety precautions, must wear a mask when indoors, and should attempt to maintain a minimum of 6 feet between your group and others. We ask the public recreate responsibly by adopting social distancing practices and wearing a face covering when social distance cannot be maintained.
