![]() Will Elder, NPS Natural History: The American Robin eats earthworms, caterpillars, snails, fruit, berries, and seeds. It nests on the ground or in shrubs. It prefers moist habitats. Breeding season is from early April to late August. General Distribution: In the Presidio, this species can be found in annual grasslands, all forests, lawns, and ornamental areas. It breeds within the Presidio. Frequency: This species is abundant all year. Identifying Characteristics: The American Robin has a red breast and gray back. It also has a yellow bill. |
