Weather varies seasonally from warm and humid in the summer to cold and snowy in the winter. Visitors should be prepared for seasonal weather and for rapidly-changing conditions.

Visitor Centers

Visitor Center

Regular Hours (March through November): Open daily 8:30 - 4:30 central time. Admission is free and includes cultural demonstrations, exhibits, a film, and park store. The 3/4-mile paved trail is free to walk at all times.

Winter Hours (December through February): Open Tuesday - Saturday 8:30 - 4:30 central time. No cultural demonstrations, but free snowshoe check-out is available in the visitor center to enjoy the trail from January until the snow melts (supplies are limited).

March through November, the Visitor Center is open daily, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. December, January, and February, the Visitor Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm central time and offers exhibits, a 22-minute film, and park store. The trail and grounds are open daily, year-round. Admission is free.

Visitor services are not available on Sunday or Monday during the months of December, January, and February. Brochures are available in a box near the Visitor Center entrance doors and the trails remain open for walking.

There is currently no WiFi at the park, but there is enough of a signal for cell phone use. Certain carriers have more reach than others, so some visitors may have to go into town for better reception (less than a 5-minute drive).
