 NANCY, KY – The National Park Service (NPS) has reported an incident of vandalism and theft at Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument. Park staff recently discovered that wood siding had been removed from a historic barn located adjacent to Highway 235 in Nancy, Kentucky. This act of vandalism and theft is a federal crime and is currently under investigation by National Park Service law enforcement officials in coordination with the local police department.  Nancy, KY – On Saturday, January 18, 2025, Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is hosting a luminaria event from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. commemorating the 163rd Anniversary of the Battle of Mill Springs. Over 200 luminaries will be placed at Tour Stop #3: Last Stand Hill representing the casualties inflicted during the battle.  On Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16, 2024, Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is hosting their third annual “Conflict at the Crossroads” living history event. On Friday, visitors can experience an evening of music by renowned Civil War-era brass band, the Kentucky Home Guard, at the park Visitor Center. On Saturday, a living history encampment, historic weapons programs, blacksmithing, music, battle walks, and a variety of kid-friendly activities will be held at historic Zollicoffer Park. These events including parking are free to the public.  Nancy, KY – On Saturday, May 25, 2024, Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is hosting engaging ranger programming for all ages connecting visitors to Civil War soldier’s wartime experiences and the evolution of commemorating the nation’s military sacrifices from post-Civil War Decoration Day through today’s Memorial Day.  Nancy, KY – On Friday, January 19, 2024, Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is hosting a luminaria event from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. commemorating the 162nd Anniversary of the Battle of Mill Springs. Over 200 luminaries will be placed at Tour Stop #3: Last Stand Hill representing the casualties inflicted during the battle. An engaging program using soldier’s letters will follow speeches by both the Sons of Union Veterans and Sons of Confederate Veterans organizations along with memorial wreaths being placed. Visitors are welcomed to help place luminaries and engage in the commemorative program.  On Monday, May 29, 2023, Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument (NM), in partnership with Mill Springs National Cemetery, will be holding annual Memorial Day Services. The first program will start at 9:00 am at Zollicoffer Park followed by the ceremony at the Mill Springs National Cemetary at 11:00 am.  On Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 9 am to 12 pm Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is participating in the American Battlefield Trust’s 25th annual Park Day. Members of the local community are invited to help with the cleanup of Zollicoffer Park located off Highway 235 in Nancy, Kentucky.  On Monday, May 30, 2022, Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument (NM), in partnership with Mill Springs National Cemetery, will be holding the annual Memorial Day Services. 9:00 am Mill Springs Battlefield NM ceremony at Zollicoffer. Following this, a Memorial Day ceremony at the Mill Springs National Cemetery will take place at 11:00 am.  Park Day is April 16, 2022!  On Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 9 am to 12 pm, Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is participating in the American Battlefield Trust’s annual, volunteer cleanup event, Park Day. Members of the local community are invited to help with the cleanup of Zollicoffer Park located off Highway 235 in Nancy, Kentucky. Volunteers will rake; collect leaves and sticks; pick up trash; restack a snake fence on site; and clean signs.
