Maps

The new national monument was made possible in part by land donations from The Mill Springs Battlefield Association and the government of Pulaski County, Kentucky. The National Park Service is working to acquire additional properties.

The authorized monument boundary includes discontiguous sections both north and south of Lake Cumberland:

  • The northernmost section is the core battlefield area. It lies southeast of Nancy, Kentucky and includes the Visitor Center and Museum off Hwy 80, and Zollicoffer Park.
  • Head south from the visitor center on Hwy 235 to reach Beech Grove, site of a fortified Confederate encampment. There are multiple points of interest and signage along the way.
  • On the south side of the river by the town of Mill Springs, is the old fortified ferry landing and mill site. Find the Brown-Lanier House, nearby West-Metcalfe House, and a restored grist mill administered by the Army Corps of Engineers.

See the Directions page for more information and driving times.
