Make plans to join Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site in celebrating the 116th anniversary of President Johnson’s birth. At 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 27th, the National Park Service will host the annual wreath-laying ceremony at President Johnson’s gravesite in the Johnson Family Cemetery at the LBJ Ranch. The ceremony continues a tradition that Mrs. Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson began in 1973. US Air Force Colonel Will Freds will help present the wreath and provide remarks. Shelton Coleman, whose family has a long history with the Johnsons, will be the keynote speaker.

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is excited to announce that the construction phase of the Texas White House Rehabilitation Project, funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) and Repair and Rehabilitation funds, will begin January 2, 2024. Visitors can continue to walk the grounds of the Texas White House Complex daily until park closing at 5:00 pm on December 31, 2023 at which time the Complex will close to the public for the duration of the project. Affected structures include the Texas White House, Hangar Visitor Center, and Lockheed JetStar.

The park announces the opening of two new temporary exhibits, "The Texas Oval Office" and "The Cabinet Oak Project." "The Texas Oval Office" enables visitors to feel as though they are stepping inside the home office of President Johnson in the Texas White House. "The Cabinet Oak Project" is an art exhibition using wood from the historic, 300-year-old oak under which the President once held meetings.
