The National Park Service, in partnership with Jefferson National Parks Association, today announced the award of $186,756 in Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative (LMDI) grants. This year’s awards will support 11 projects advancing preservation of the Delta Region’s culture and history across 7 states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.

The National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with Jefferson National Parks Association (JNPA), today announced the award of $186,781 in Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative (LMDI) grants. This year’s awards will benefit 11 projects across five states and support the continued preservation of the Delta Region’s culture and history.

No Tears Project Memphis, a series of civil rights and arts education residency events, to be held in Memphis, Tennessee (June 10-14, 2023)

The multi-day residency triangulates the American Civil Rights Movement legacies of Memphis; Jackson, Mississippi; and Little Rock, Arkansas. Featured events will include concerts with the world premiere of new music by Memphis native Robert “Bobby LaVell” Garner, as well as conversations with civil rights heroes, Dwania Kyles, Elizabeth Eckford, and Reena Evers-Everette.
