Independence Square Buildings

The buildings in the Independence Square security area include Independence Hall, Congress Hall, and the Great Essentials Exhibit in the West Wing. Access to the Square is through a security entrance located at 5th and Chestnut Streets. Security screening closes at least 15 minutes prior to the building closing times.

Independence Hall (thru January 31)

• 9:15 am to 2:45 pm: 20 minute guided tours at 15 and 45 past each hour, no tickets required
• 3:15 pm: 40 minute guided tour, tickets required on rec.gov
• 4:00 pm to 4:50 pm: the Independence Hall experience is self-guided. Park rangers will be available to answer questions. Plan to arrive early—due to building capacity limitations, not all visitors are guaranteed entry

Congress Hall (thru January 31)

• 9 am–5 pm
  • Entrance is first-come, first-served, explore at your own pace. No tickets are required.
  • First floor only from 4 pm to 5 pm.

Old City Hall

• Supreme Court Chamber in Old City Hall
  Open daily 9 am–5 pm
• America's National Parks Museum Store in Old City Hall

Franklin Court Buildings

The Franklin Court complex includes the Benjamin Franklin Museum, the Franklin Court Printing Office & Bindery, the Fragments of Franklin Court Archeological Exhibit, the B. Free Franklin branch of the U.S. Post Office, and the Benjamin Franklin Museum Store.

• Open daily 9 am–5 pm

  Open Friday thru Sunday 10 am–5 pm. Last printing demonstration at 4:30 pm.
