Visiting the Liberty Bell Center

 
The Liberty Bell appears in the foreground with Independence Hall visible behind it.
During your visit, be sure to talk to our knowledgeable park rangers to hear the story of the Liberty Bell.  The building also offers self-guided exhibits about this now famous symbol of liberty.

LocationThe Liberty Bell Center is located at 526 Market Street. Visitors exit from the south end of the building, near Chestnut Street.

Hours and FeesOpen daily 9am - 5pm
The security screening area closes at least 5 minutes prior to the building closure time.

Admission is FREE.
TicketingNO tickets are required. Entrance is on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must pass through security screening first.
 

ExhibitsExhibits line the left side of the hallway in the Liberty Bell Center. Topics range from the founding of the State House bell (now known as the Liberty Bell) to its use by abolitionists and civil rights advocates.
For International VisitorsWritten information about the Liberty Bell is available in a dozen languages. Please ask a park ranger for these services.

 

AccessibilityThe Liberty Bell Center is wheelchair accessible. There are NO restrooms (accessible or otherwise) in the Liberty Bell Center. The closest restrooms are located in the nearby Independence Visitor Center. Learn more about the accessibility services offered throughout the park on our website.

 

SecurityAll visitors and their belongings are required to undergo screening to enter the Liberty Bell Center. This includes all items in pockets, bags, medical devices, and underneath strollers and wheelchairs. Belongings must pass through an x-ray machine or pass visual inspection by security officers.

  • No firearms, knives, explosives, or any other weapons are permitted.
  • No open containers of food or drink are allowed through the screening. Examples include: an open tray of french fries or a disposable coffee cup. Bottles with screw on lids are permitted through.
  • Visitors will be screened using a walk-through metal detector. Visitors who are unable to pass through or who alarm the walk-through metal detector will undergo additional screening with a hand-held metal detector or a pat-down screening by a same gender security officer
