National Park Service to Close Turkey Run Loop Exit from Northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway Starting April 1 for Rehabilitation Work

Motorists may access Turkey Run Loop Road from the southbound parkway

MCLEAN, Va. — The North Parkway Rehabilitation Project will close the exit to and from Turkey Run Park from northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) starting April 1 through late April, weather permitting. This closure is for roadway demolition and asphalt paving on the northbound lanes. During this time, Turkey Run loop will only be accessible from southbound GWMP. Additionally, motorists traveling southbound on GWMP will not be able to use the Turkey Run loop to cross the parkway and access northbound GWMP.  Motorists traveling on Turkey Run Loop Road will only have access to southbound GWMP.
Detour information:

• To reach Turkey Run Loop Road: Northbound GWMP drivers should continue to I-495 south, turn at Georgetown Pike, and proceed to southbound GWMP to Turkey Run Loop Road.
• To leave Turkey Run Loop Road: All visitors must exit via southbound GWMP. Motorists who need to access northbound GWMP, should continue to Route 123 to access northbound GWMP.

Motorists are reminded to proceed with caution through work zones, watch out for crews and road debris, and observe the speed limit. Message boards and orange construction signs along the parkway provide important information and directions, and motorists can see construction updates and opt-in to receive emails about traffic changes, meetings and major project milestones on the project webpage.
