Park Mission The mission of Golden Gate National Recreation Area is to preserve and enhance the natural, historic and scenic resources of the lands north and south of the Golden Gate for the education, recreation and inspiration of people today and in the future. In the spirit of bringing national parks to the people, we reach out to a diverse urban community, promote the richness and breadth of the national park system to many who are experiencing a national park for the first time and foster broad-based public stewardship through various volunteer and partnership programs. Key Management Documents The General Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (GMP/EIS) signed in 2014 is the culmination of several years of effort involving the thoughtful input and participation of thousands of individuals, dozens of public agencies, and numerous outside organizations and stakeholder groups. The 2014 General Management Plan replaced the 1980 plan which effectively guided the park for more than three decades. General Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (GMP/EIS) will guide the park over the next 20 years. Please use the links below to access the current management plan documents. General Management Plan is posted on the Park Planning website: ParkPlanning - Final General Management Plan / Environmental Impact Statement - April 2014 (nps.gov) |
