Become a Junior Ranger Explorer A national junior ranger program

Explore. Learn. Protect. This is the motto of the Junior Ranger program. Children and adults are invited to become Junior Rangers and protect their parks, continue to learn, and share their own ranger story with friends and family.

Zion offers a guided and self-guided Junior Ranger experience for ages four and older. Self-guided activity booklets are available for free at park visitor centers, the Zion Human History Museum, and the Nature Center. You can also download the booklet ahead of time. Please keep in mind, that the Junior Ranger booklet was designed to be completed inside Zion National Park.

Children aged four and older can complete pages in the booklet and attend a ranger-led program to earn their Junior Ranger badge for Zion National Park. Becoming a Zion Junior Ranger is a fun way to explore and enjoy Zion National Park and the natural world. Please allow for several hours to complete this booklet as activities include traveling throughout Zion Canyon in search of cool things to discover. The Zion National Park Forever Project provides additional funding for this program.

Junior Ranger FAQ's

I couldn't make it to the Visitor Center before I left Zion. Can I still get my badge?

Yes, we can mail you a Junior Ranger badge! Please email us pictures of the completed activity pages and your mailing address.  

Where can I get Zion Junior Ranger booklets and badges?

We recommend picking up your Junior Ranger Booklets as soon as you arrive in the park. Booklets can be picked up year-round at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center and Kolob Canyons Visitor Center. Booklets are seasonally available at the Human History Museum and the Zion Nature Center. You can also find the booklet online, link on this page. 

Is there an age limit on who can be a Junior Ranger?

No. The booklet is designed for ages 4 and up. You are never too old to become a Junior Ranger.

Can I have booklets/badges mailed to my classroom?

Unfortunately, we cannot mail out large qualities of booklets or badges. The Junior Ranger booklet is designed to be completed while at Zion National Park. If your students would still like to partcipate, please download the digital booklet found on this page. Please email us with questions.
