Many of you have asked for one guaranteed time and place to find me in the park. I thought that was a great idea, so this year, I will be at the Valley Visitor Center every Wednesday from 2pm -- 4pm, through August 21st. Yosemite Deaf Services 34th Season!

We are so excited to be featured in Sorenson Communication's November newsletter. Please note that there is a full-time interpreter onsite only during the months of June, July, and August. I especially enjoyed learning about the history and the making of Yosemite. Thank you for interpreting for us. Brenda wants to go back! We didn’t have enough time to go see the Big Trees. Yosemite Deaf Services will have a booth at the DeafNation World Expo in Las Vegas next week. Come by to say hi, ask questions, or just gaze at the gorgeous posters and photographs I'll have on display. Yosemite is a naturally Deaf-friendly place. It's the outdoors! You don't need to hear here. You can camp, swim, float, hike, bike, and take in all the scenery without any need for hearing or interpreting. Working here reminded me of this wonderful Clayton Valli poem, "Deaf World," about the natural connection many Deaf people have with the outdoors. |
