 A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 39,440,786 visitors to national parks in Washington, D.C., spent $973,000,000 in D.C. in 2022. That spending resulted in 9,140 jobs and had a cumulative benefit to D.C.’s economy of $1,144,400,000.  A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 28,599,634 visitors to national parks in the District of Columbia spent $600,600,000 in 2021. That spending resulted in 5,293 jobs and had a cumulative benefit to the District’s economy of $679,400,000.  The American flag was raised over the World War I Memorial for the first time on Friday, April 16, the formal unveiling of the memorial that honors the 4.7 million Americans who served their nation in World War I, including 116,516 who made the supreme sacrifice. The First Colors Ceremony featured recorded remarks by President Joe Biden and Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland The National Park Service welcomes visitors to the World War I Memorial, which is now open to the public.
