Waco Mammoth National Monument has a foundation document. All national park units developed these documents as part of the centennial of the National Park Service in 2016. This document is a formal statement of the monument's core mission that will provide basic guidance for all planning and management decisions.
The Foundation Document reflects:
the legislated established purpose of the monument
any special mandates or designations that the monument has received
a description of the monument's resources and values that are significant enough to warrant national monument designation
the monument's fundamental resources and values that are essential to achieving the purpose of the monument and that are primary considerations during planning and management
other important resource values
the monument's primary interpretive themes that are conveyed to visitors
The document also includes a list of key monumentwide or major issues and associated planning and data needs.Two versions of the Foundation Document are available.
