On Saturday, February 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tumacácori will celebrate artistic expression of all kinds with a day of activities for families, neighbors, and visitors from across the world. "Art and national parks have always had a close relationship," says Superintendent Bob Love, "A celebration of art in all its many forms is a fantastic way to celebrate the National Park Service centennial and invite visitors to participate." Get in touch with your creative side by joining some of the many demonstrations, workshops, and programs offered at Tumacácori onFebruary 13. Play with paint, charcoal, pottery, and natural fibers. Learn how scientists and historians use photography to protect Tumacácori's precious resources. Meet a craft demonstrator and watch their cultural traditions come to life through art. Or, come with your own supplies and use the park's many landscapes as inspiration for your own creation. All activities and entrance to the park will be free during the February 13 Art in the Park event. For more information about this and other celebrations at Tumacácori during the centennial year of the National Park Service, visit www.nps.gov/tuma or call 520-377-5060. |
