Timpanogos Cave Tour Reservation

Open seasonally depending on weather. Caves cannot be accessed without a ticket. Tickets are between $2.00 and $12.00 depending on age and are 50% off for the passholder only with a Senior or Access Pass. This tour spends 55 minutes inside of the cave system with a ranger walking along a 1/3 mile trail. There are multiple stairs and places you must bend and twist. Visitors on this tour will see Hansen Cave, Middle Cave, and Timpanogos Cave.

Timpanogos Cave System - Lantern Tour Reservation

Open seasonally depending on weather. Caves cannot be accessed without a ticket. Spend an hour inside the Timpanogos Cave System with a ranger on a lantern guided tour. Discover what early explorers experienced as they traveled through the dark passages of the cave. Hear stories of early exploration and marvel at the cave’s geology by the glow of your lantern and experience the caves in a way that hasn't been done in decades. This tour is limited to those 7 years of age and older.

Introduction to Caving Tour Reservation

Open seasonally depending on weather. Caves cannot be accessed without a ticket. With a helmet and headlamp you are ready to experience Hansen Cave in its natural state. With a ranger, you'll scramble and sometimes even crawl on the trail leading to Hansen Cave Lake, along the same route Martin Hansen conducted tours in the late 1800s. The tour is considered strenuous. Must be 14 years of age or older to participate.

Although entrance to the park is fee free, a ticket must be purchased to enter the cave system.

Additional Tour and Ticket Details

  • Timpanogos Cave National Monument no longer accepts cash or checks.
  • Your tour begins and ends at the visitor center. This means that the time you purchase your ticket for is the time you should pick that ticket up at the visitor center. Plan on 3-4 hours for your hike up, your cave tour, and your hike down.
  • Cave tours are very popular and often sell out in advance. Weekends and holidays are particularly busy, and it is best to avoid those days if possible.
  • Tour tickets may be purchased up to 30 days in advance online or by calling (877) 444-6777 between 10:00 AM and Midnight EST.
  • Tours are limited to 16 visitors.
  • Please remember that anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • To increase safety for all visitors, no wheeled vehicles, including strollers, are allowed on the cave trail.
  • Tickets must be purchased at the visitor center before hiking to the caves; tickets cannot be purchased at the cave entrance.
 

Driving in the American Fork Canyon

The Monument is surrounded entirely by the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, and visitors must stop at a US Forest Service information station on the way to Timpanogos Cave. Visitors going just to Timpanogos Cave National Monument, including the Canyon Nature Trail and Swinging Bridge Picnic Area, are not required to pay the US Forest Service American Fork Canyon fee. Visitors planning to go beyond the Monument and use US Forest Service recreation sites are subject to the following fees:

  • $6.00 - 3 day pass
  • $12.00 - 7 day pass
  • $45.00 - Annual pass

The US Forest Service honors The America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, Golden Age or Senior Pass, Golden Access or Access Pass, Every Kid Outdoors Pass, and the Military and Veteran Passes.

Timpanogos Cave National Monument does not charge an entrance fee to enter the monument. There is no charge for driving through the area, using the picnic areas, or hiking within Monument boundaries.
