Making the Mountains

Glacier’s mountainous landscape tells the tale of the powerful geologic forces that have shaped the land over time. In this program, students will investigate the many geologic forces that have sculpted the mountains of Glacier by learning about the four main stages of the park’s geologic formations; silt, tilt, slide, and glide. Through hands-on activities and discussion, students will become immersed in the geologic story of Glacier National Park.

Making Corn Husk Dolls

Students will learn how to make a corn husk doll, and then compare the toys they have with toys that children of the 19th century played with (and often made) as a daily life comparison. Corn was grown at Kingsley Plantation, and while it was used for food, other parts of the plant were useful too. Children back then would have had as much fun using their imaginations to make their toys as they did when playing with them!
