Fort Scott was the base for one of the most diverse assemblies of Union soldiers during the Civil War. Significant numbers of African Americans and American Indians were recruited in this area. African Burial Ground trips consist of a 90 minute visit, which includes a site film, a ranger led discussion, and a tour of our memorial, as well as a chance to explore the exhibits in our visitor center. On-site visits are offered Tuesday-Saturday at 10 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM, and 2 PM and are limited to groups of 40 people or less.
