Essential Question

How can the students enhance learning and review material through the creation of trading cards?

Objective

As a result of this lesson plan, students will be able to isolate relevant facts about important people, events, and dates of the Southern Campaign.

Background

Students will have an understanding of the important victories of Kings Mountain and the Battle of Cowpens and also will connect the importance of the Siege of Ninety Six and the eventual evacuation of the British from Ninety Six even though the patriots could not take the fort.

Preparation

Teacher will group students and assign groups their topics. The teacher will also provide pictures and material to create the cards. Each group will be responsible for creating 8 cards.

Lesson Hook/Preview

A visual of popular trading cards games will be presented on the board as students arrive.
 

Procedure

Students will review material associated with the Southern Campaign and work together in groups to develop a set of trading cards to be used for review.
