Talk with one of Fort Necessity National Battlefield’s park rangers about young George Washington and the French and Indian War. Using George Washington’s actions and writings students will see how his ambition, hard work and experiences helped him mature into the famous man we all know today.
The program will cover the beginning of the French and Indian War, the battle at Fort Necessity, Braddock’s defeat and the capture of Fort Duquesne. There will be time at the end for questions.
Program Length: 30 minutes plus time for questions

To prepare your children for their distance learning program you may like to familiarize the students with the three cultures involved in the French and Indian War.You could use the “The Forks of the Ohio” lesson found on line by clicking here. This unit is part of a free teacher’s guide "The French and Indian War 1754-1763." Other useful lessons would include “What Were They Fighting For?”(click here) and “Domain of Three Nations” (click here).

Scheduling: Fort Necessity uses a bridge to connect to schools.Call 724-329-2503 or email to set up a date to perform a test and to schedule the program.
Times and Dates: Program will be offered Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm Eastern time. Programs may be scheduled September through March.
