Gettysburg National Military Park will start the new year with events for families and young learners. Our History Kids Reading Adventure Club (ages 4 to 10) and our Time Travelers Reading Adventures Club (ages 7 to 12) offers families with younger children an opportunity to travel back in time to learn about different figures and topics of our shared past.

Beginning January 4, 2025, the popular Winter Lecture series will begin at Gettysburg National Military Park (NMP). Featuring some of the best National Park Service rangers and historians from across the region, the 8-week Winter Lecture Series of hour-long talks will examine a wide array of subjects related to the American Civil War and Gettysburg history.

Do you have beautiful photos of the Obed Wild & Scenic River? Enter your images in the 2024 Obed photography contest. Images may show wildlife, plant life, natural landscapes, historic areas, weather, or people interacting with nature within the boundaries of the Obed Wild and Scenic River. Selected images will be printed for an exhibition at the Obed Visitor Center on Friday, August 23.

Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area would like to experience how you capture the park through the lens of a camera! Use the park’s spectacular views in any season, historic sites, recreational opportunities, and diversity of life at Big South Fork and document your park as you see it.

The deadline for submitting entries for the 2024 Obed WSR photo contest is July 15, 2024. All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared.

In celebration of the National Park Service turning 107 years old, Obed Wild & Scenic River will host a combined birthday party and 12th annual photo contest reception on Friday, August 25.

Join National Park Service staff to commemorate the events of 1943 for Eisenhower National Historic Site’s (NHS) 2023 World War II Weekend event. The theme for this year’s events is “1943: America at War.” The year 1943 saw the American people take park in a global struggle against fascism and tyranny, joining together with their Allies abroad to provide the material, manpower, and leadership needed to fight the Axis powers during WWII. From September 15-17, park rangers, guest speakers, living historians, and partner organizations will bring the stories of 1943 to life through three days of programming and interactive activities for visitors of all ages.
