Physical/Mobility
The following exhibits and historic buildings at Saugus Iron Works are accessible to wheelchair users:
- The Saugus Visitor Center and Saugus Iron Works Museum are fully accessible
- The forge is accessible through a ramped entrance point
- Wheelchair seating is available at picnic tables
- Accessible parking is available closest to the Saugus Visitor Center as well as an additional lot on the lower level of the park for facilitated access to the river/ nature trail area.
- Accessible bathrooms are located next to the Saugus Visitor Center, attached to the Museum
Blind/Low Vision
- Self-guided audio tours of Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site are available through the NPS App.
- Braille version of the park brochure can be found at the Visitor Center
Service Animals
- Service animals are legally permitted anywhere that visitors can go
- National Park Service policy defines a service animal as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. The tasks performed by the animal must be directly related to the person’s disability.
