Location: 1.5 miles from the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center on the east side of the park.
Description: Upper Beaver Meadows is an open area with a view of the Continental Divide. The roadway is mostly dirt. It has multiple small parking areas, one picnic area, and trailheads for Ute and Upper Beaver Meadows trails. You can use any area along this roadway if you do not block the road or trails for other visitors.
Restrooms: Yes. During the summer, vault toilets are located at the picnic area and at the end of Upper Beaver Meadows Road. During the winter, the closest restrooms are at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center.
Special Site Restrictions: Upper Beaver Meadows Road (1.5 miles one-way) closes typically from mid-October to mid-May. No vehicles are allowed when the road is closed. You can still access the area on foot while parking along Highway 36 (Park Entrance Road).
Annual meadows closures occur September through October due to elk rut activity. Closures are in place between the hours of 5pm to 10am. During the specified hours, these meadow areas will be closed to all foot travel.
Mobility Impairment Accessibility: Yes. The road is mostly dirt and areas can be uneven.
