Site Location: Site is in a sparsely forested area on west side of Tonahutu Creek just below treeline. A wood sign indicates the path to the site; the path may be marked by red arrowheads on trees. Camp safely away from standing dead trees, as near as is safely possible to the silver metal arrowhead. Number of Sites: 1 group Elevation: 10,570 feet Distance: 7.4 miles from Green Mountain TH, 7.6 miles from Bear Lake TH Approximate Travel Time: 7 to 8 hours Elevation Change: 1,770 feet gain from Green Mountain TH, net gain 1,090 feet from Bear Lake TH (2,850 feet gain; 1,760 feet loss) Privy: YES Water Source: Water is available from creek. Boil or adequately treat all water. To Reach the Trailhead (TH): Green Mountain TH: From Kawuneeche Visitor Center follow Hwy 34 north approximately 3.1 miles to the TH which is on the right side of Hwy 34. |
