Size: 4.5-5” Description: Greenish-bronze back, an iridescent violet rump, green head, gray wings and white underparts. Males have white cheeks, while females and juveniles have dusky cheeks. Migratory Status: Summer residents of Rocky Mountain National Park. Habitat: Breed mostly in aspen forests and around cliffs but also live in open coniferous and montane riparian forests to 10,000 feet and occasionally 13,000 feet. Diet: Forage in the air and eat mostly insects that they catch in flight.
