European Starling

Size: 8-9”
Description: Iridescent purplish-green with yellow beak.
Migratory Status: Summer residents of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Habitat: Live in agricultural, urban and riparian areas to 6,000 feet and rarely 10,000 feet.
Diet: Forage on the ground, and eat mostly insects and other invertebrates, but also eat seeds, fruits and grains.
Park Notes: European Starlings are not native to the Park and are a threat to native cavity-nesting species such as woodpeckers and bluebirds.
