Join the Junior Ranger Fun at Redwood Parks!The Junior Ranger Program at Redwood National and State Parks is a fun and educational way for kids to explore and learn about the park’s towering redwoods, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural history. Designed for children of all ages, this program encourages young visitors to engage with the natural world while fostering a sense of stewardship for these beautiful parks. Get Your Activity BookletVisit any information center and pick up a free Redwood Junior Ranger Activity Book. Alternatively, you can download the Junior Ranger booklet (March 2021 edition) and print a copy before your visit. The booklet contains a variety of activities that guide children through different areas of the park, helping them discover the fascinating plants, animals, and cultural significance of the redwoods. Activities include wildlife observation, drawing, and tree identification. Complete the activities at your own pace while exploring the parks with your family. When you’re done, return the completed booklet to any visitor center (summer: 9am-5pm / winter: 9am-4pm) to get sworn in and receive your official Redwood Junior Ranger Badge as a reward for your hard work and dedication. From games and crafts to hikes and wildlife observation, children ages 7 to 12 can explore some of California’s most beautiful landscapes and make new friends along the way. To participate, check our calendar or visit any information center to find the time and location of the next Junior Ranger activity (typically about 1 hour long). Upon completing your first activity, children will receive an official state park badge. But the adventure doesn’t have to stop here! You can continue your Junior Ranger journey and earn additional badges at over 70 other state parks throughout California.
