General Management Plan Amendment Initial Public Comments

Point Reyes National Seashore initiated a 30-day public comment period for the General Management Plan Amendment for Point Reyes National Seashore and the north district of Golden Gate National Recreation Area on October 16, 2017. The original comment period was extended for seven days and closed on November 22, 2017. During this time, two public open house meetings were held at different locations in the vicinity of the park. The public was encouraged to submit comments through the NPS's Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC) website. Comments were also accepted at the meetings, by postal mail, and in person at the park. Nearly 3,000 pieces of correspondence were received during the open comment period. This report describes the initial public comment period and presents a summary of public comments received.

Public Comment Analysis Report (465 KB PDF)

The park released all letters submitted to the National Park Service under a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on February 9, 2018. The release of these records was conducted consistent with FOIA regulations. As there is general public interest in the comment letters, the park is also making them available to the general public through this web page. Because the records are being provided consistent with a FOIA response, there is no other organizing information for these records. The records are provided as they were received, with Personal Identifying Information (PII) redacted consistent with the Privacy Act where appropriate.
