Meet the artist: Dennis Pollard

"Hello, my name is Dennis Pollard. I am 76 years old and from Port Angeles, Washington.

"First let me thank Eliza and the Terminus Project for allowing me to share my artwork with others that might not be able to experience the beauty of Olympic National Park in person.

"My opportunities started early when my father carried me into Humes Ranch on his back—I was 3 and the year was 1950. I have been hiking in the park ever since.

"This 9-1/2" x 12-1/2" watercolor painting of Mt. Duckabush was done from a photograph i took on a recent hike to Marmot Lake.

"I am not a professional artist nor do I try to sell paintings, however I am asked to do a commissioned painting once in a while.

"Painting with watercolors is a hobby of mine—more than a hobby really—its therapy.

"I hope you enjoy looking at my work. I do not have a website but I do have a Facebook page. If you can get thru the Corvettes and gardening there are a few of my paintings to see.
Thanks again, Dennis Pollard"

More about Duckabush Glacier

A small ice apron on the north flank of Mt. Duckabush, it is one of the few glaciers in this east side drainage. The glacier forms the scenic backdrop to a popular hiking destination, La Crosse Basin. Its meltwaters feed into the Duckabush River, flowing east to join the Hood Canal south of the small town of Brinnon.
