Mount Rainier National Park is located in Southwest Washington state.

Mount Rainier became a National Park in 1899 and is the United State's fifth National Park.

The mountain is 14,410 feet tall.

Mount Rainier is an active volcano that last erupted about 1,000 years ago.

Mount Rainier has 25 major glaciers.

The park is 369 square miles with:

  • 260 miles of hiking trails
  • 147 miles of road
  • Four accessible campgrounds
  • Five visitor centers

The average yearly snowfall on subapine meadows is 54 feet.

964 plant species have been documented in the park.

182 bird species, 65 mammal species, 15 reptile and amphibian species, and 12 fish species have been found in the park.
