History of Patriots Hall Constructed in 1966 as part of the National Park Service’s Mission 66 program, Patriots Hall was built on the site of the original 1907 Superintendent’s quarters. It was included in the program following an assertive campaign by the Moores Creek Battleground Association. Since then, the hall has hosted numerous events such as family gatherings, weddings, and ceremonies. Impact of Flooding on Patriots Hall Despite being constructed on a raised mound to prevent flooding, the original planners of Patriots Hall did not thoroughly investigate the site, which had a history of flooding, including a record flood in 1945 with six feet of water. Since its construction, Patriots Hall has faced nearly a dozen floods, most recently in 2018 when Hurricane Florence brought over 35 inches of rain to the area. The flood lines are still visible if you look closely.
