Born to a A.M.E. minister and a European mother, Graham was raised to appreciate Black culture and music. From a young age, her parents instilled in her the importance of social justice and the uplift of the Black Community. For her lifelong dedication, we honor her as an ancestor.

Following a day's journey from Fort Laramie, emigrants spent the night at Register Cliff , which rises one hundred feet above the North Platte River valley. The soft, chalky limestone rock made it easy for emigrants to inscribe their names into the cliff before continuing on their journey. The earliest signatures date to the late 1820s when trappers and fur traders passed through the area.

Boston National Historical Park

In the days leading to the American Revolution, citizens gathered here to challenge British policies, protesting the Boston Massacre and the tea tax. Here, at an overflow meeting on December 16, 1773, the Boston Tea Party began. Saved from destruction in 1876, in the first successful historic preservation effort in New England, the building is now an active meeting place, a haven for free speech, and a museum exhibit, “Voices of Protest.”

Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis and 2nd Earl Cornwallis, served as a British general during the American Revolution and notably surrendered his army to General Washington's Continental army and the allied French forces at Yorktown, Virginia in October 1781. This surrender effectively ended hostilities between British and American forces and led to peace negotiations, ending the war and recognizing American independence. Cornwallis later governed in India.

The Mead Cultural Education Center, located in Yankton, South Dakota, was constructed in 1909 by Dr. Leonard C. Mead. Originally serving as part of the women’s ward for the Dakota Hospital for the Insane, the building was in use until the 1980s. Today, however, it houses the Dakota Territorial Museum and is upkept by the Yankton County Historical Society.

Open daily: 8 am - 7 pm. Yavapai Geology Museum offers one of the best vantage points for an overview of Grand Canyon geology. The building is right on the very edge of the canyon rim at Yavapai Point, The Museum Features: a bookstore and museum shop, large picture windows for viewing the canyon, and a variety of exhibits about the geology of Grand Canyon. Restrooms are in a separate building adjacent to the parking lot. The shuttle bus stop is also on the parking lot.

Above the village of Piti, sit three large Japanese Vickers-type Model 3 140mm coastal defense guns, the remains of hastily constructed fortifications build on the eve of the American invasion of Guam. As the Americans conquered more and more territory in the Pacific, the Japanese forced the CHamoru to build fortifications and install artillery and costal defense guns on Guam under brutal conditions.
