Volunteers-In-Parks (VIPs) help the National Park Service meet its mission of preserving natural and cultural resources while providing for the enjoyment and education for this and future generations. At Manzanar, volunteers contribute to every aspect of the site’s preservation and operations including working on archeological digs, visitor services, maintenance, and much more! We work with volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who are active, dynamic, creative, compassionate, and wish to learn more about and preserve Manzanar’s very important history. GroupsIf your group is interested in volunteering at Manzanar, please e-mail us. Two months advanced notice is required. Volunteer opportunities are subject to availability of projects suitable for your group and park staff for monitoring. Housing MAY be available for volunteers who work 32 hours/week or greater. The nearby communities of Independence and Lone Pine offer limited lodging and camping opportunities. |
