Contact: Benjamin Hayes, 907-983-9208 Skagway – The National Park Service invites you to join us as we celebrate the completion of the Stampeder Statue at the Martin Itjen House, 2nd Avenue and Broadway, at 4:30 pm on May 5. The dedication ceremony will include remarks from the sculpture artist, Peter Lucchetti and Mike Tranel, Superintendent of Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. A reception with refreshments will begin after the dedication. The event is free and open to the public.The Stampeder Statue will be part of a new interactive ton of goods exhibit at the Martin Itjen House lot. Visitors will not only see a physical representation of the ton of goods stampeders were required to carry into the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush, but touch, interact, and pose for photos.
