Junior Ranger Activities

Learning about history can be fun! Children can pick up a Junior Ranger from the Calumet Visitor Center. Books can be returned for a badge or mailed back to the address inside. If you are not in the area, you can download a book on the Junior Ranger page. Call [phone] for more information.

 

Junior Angler Program

Calling all Junior Rangers!

Keweenaw National Historical Park and park partners host a series of fun and interactive Junior Angler events during summer months. These Junior Angler programs give junior rangers from our diverse communities a chance to learn new fishing skills, explore the mining history and natural resources of the area, and protect these sites for future generations.

The Junior Angler events include:

• Fish with a Ranger days

• Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby

• Fishing discovery education programs

• Junior Angler fishing day camps

Copper Country Scavenger Hunt

Explore the Keweenaw Heritage Sites in a fun way! After completing clues for the required number of sites in a specific region, show your answers to any site in that region. If you meet the requirements listed below, you will receive a collectable sticker!

 

Project Sisu map

Project Sisu

Project Sisu occurred during the summer of 2013 and was intended to help area youth find sisu in themselves, each other, and the local community. This map is a result of their work. In the summer of 2016, our GRACE interns created an interactive web version of the map.

Held throughout the summer of 2018, this youth engagement project aims to engage local youth aged 10-12 by teaching photography, history, and inspiring a stronger sence of place.
