Weird Victorian Science and the Longfellow Circle

Live Virtual Event
Friday, October 23, 2020, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

In many ways, the 19th century was a golden era of scientific discovery. In other ways, it was...weird. With rapid advances in medicine and technology the future seemed limitless, and a little dangerous. The Longfellow family and their circle jumped in head-first - from science fiction to anesthesia and phrenology, "mummy mania" to astronomy. Join rangers live online as they discuss tales of Victorian science, from the bizarre to the surprising to the serious. This event is free and open to all. Register at http://bit.ly/victorian-science-2020 to receive details via email on how to join the event.

A Decade of Kennedy NHS Halloweens: 2009-2019

Visit www.nps.gov/jofi/halloween.htm

Staff are creating an online collage and photo gallery featuring the site’s participation in the annual Beals Street Halloween event over the past ten years. While we won’t be able to hand out treats and interpretive packets with Kennedy family history, we’ll showcase the spooky, insane fun that we have had the pleasure to be a part of over the last decade. Check out the photos to see if you or someone you know is included.

These weird, fun, and free activities are open to kids of all ages and those who are young at heart. For more information on this event, please visit our web pages, www.nps.gov/frla, www.nps.gov/jofi, www.nps.gov/long.
